Richard-Thomas-Zygot-for-webRichard Thomas has been getting some press attention following the publication of his new, pamphlet-length collection, Zygote Poems. Two articles have appeared in the Plymouth Herald. In the first, Richard talks about how he approached these poems about young fatherhood:

It was important for Richard to share his experience, but he said he wanted to “avoid common sentimentalities and reach for something new and profound” with his new book, which is written in an experimental style that Richard is fond of in poetry.

The full article can be read here.

The second article is an in-depth interview:

From changing nappies, to seeing her first baby tooth come through, Richard has described each “benign moment” in a new poetry collection published last month.

His little girl, Emmeline Thomas-Graham, will turn three in November and Richard hopes these poems will help him remember the significance of these small acts during her early years.

The full article is here, where you can also see some photos of Richard’s daughter, Emmeline, who inspired the collection. Some of the poems are also reproduced in the article.
